![]() ![]() The following may sound unforgivably outdated and boring, sorry. If the map (or whatever) is vector artwork, the only PPI information that makes sense is the Document Raster Effects Setting, which determines the resolution of any possible raster effects apart from that, forget about PPI.Īnd if it is, you can just create a path (rectangle or whatever) round the area in question, select both path and map and hold Ctrl/Cmd and press 7 to get a clipping set which you can keep as vector artwork and use for a PDF or SVG or whatever, or export/save to a raster format (which will give you a rectangular image which may have empty/transprent space round the part of the map shown. Adobe has some great resources, but, I haven't quite found how to do what I'm asking here among them, either within the community or tutorial videos (probably because I simply just don't know what to look for).Īgain, apologies for being such a noob - Thank you!Īn AI document can contain vector and/or raster artwork. I greatly appreciate any/all help, suggestions - and if there are any specific tutorials, etc., obviously those are very welcomed. I would like to "zoom" in on my part of my neighborhood, the crop or cut the rest out to keep that close-up of my part of my neighborhood, while maintaining that pixel density, (or at least minimizing any loss of density) and that final result is the actual picture - that zoomed in part of my neighborhood that has kept the 6000圆000 pixel density. Its pixel density is 8000x8000 (or something close, like 6000圆000). And it's probably not called "zoom and crop" but maybe it should be!īetter explanation: I have a png file that's a part of the city in which I live. I know I'm getting these terms incorrect my apologies in advance. ![]() After cropping or cutting, that "close up" or area I selected is the map I want to create. But for the life of me, I can't find nor figure out how to take a vector map file (if that's what it's called - it's a PNG file) and "zoom" in on a particular area or portion, then crop it - without degradating image quality/pixel density. ![]()
